Shattered expectations of Home” installation is a 9-piece mixed media piece. I displayed the shattered pieces of dinnerware that I wanted to bring to the United States from Iran, but they shattered during the journey in my luggage. I have been collecting these pieces for three years now and this body of work provided the best platform conceptually to exhibit these broken pieces. They carry the sense of failure. However, I am drawn to the deeper idea behind them; breaking but not giving up. I hung them in large glass globes. The glass bubbles speak to the concept of safe zone to me. These pieces emit light from themselves. The warm dimmer light  creates a nostalgic scene. To mute the light even more, I used mat papers with text and writings on them. They were also components of an incomplete project. I tore them apart a while ago, but now I am using them in this piece to acknowledge their broken side.
